Using the Dymola Modelica platform, we have developed and validated thermodynamic models that simulate the behaviour of hot air turbines, hot gas stands, diesel engines and gas engines.
The platform lets us calculate performance at off-design conditions: ambient temperatures, altitude, heat-exchanger fouling. It also shows how the system behaves transiently, for example after vent-valve actuation.
That work is the same stack used to select turbomachinery and power electronics on the Bluebox-80, Bluebox-220 and Bluebox-330.
